Soror Jeneal Hobbs, committee chair for the Rejesta V. Perry Birthright Program, expressed her gratitude to all who participated in the Philadelphia AIDS Walk on Sunday, October 19th. "Thanks so much to everyone who participated for making this year's AIDS Walk Philly such a success! Sunday was a beautiful day - not just because of the bright sunshine, but because we saw our donations rise." The Alpha Eta Sigma Team raised over $1,500 and still counting to fight this disease that has consumed so many in and around the Philadelphia area. The money goes toward supporting various research efforts, as well social service programs and medical care for individuals infected with HIV/AIDS.
The Rejesta V. Perry Birthright Program was established in the memory of Past Grand Basileus Rejesta Perry, PhD. This program is designed for chapters to include in their programming certain projects, activities and services dedicated to helping young children gain access to the health, educational and social services needed to start them on their journey to a healthy, productive adult life. Particularly great emphasis is placed on substance abused mothers who have AIDS or who are HIV positive.
