On Saturday, August 13, 2011, Sorors of the Alpha Eta Sigma chapter had the honor of implementing a national service initiative, Soles for Little Souls, by donating 23 pairs of brand new children's shoes to The Salvation Army's Eliza Shirley House located at 1320 Arch Street in Philadelphia, PA. This facility provides emergency shelter services for homeless single women and families 365 days of the year. It provides decent safe and sanitary housing, and healthy nutritious meals in an orderly environment. Alpha Eta Sigma was warmly greeted by staff member Ms. Sharon and several excited residents and will be returning to the shelter on October 2 to assist in distributing the shoes and other donated items to the residents.
